Big Dream, Tiny House
I wanted to give all of you an opportunity to get inside my tiny house with me! Minimus Tiny House was built as a sustainable education project for myself and my community in 2017 at Delaware Valley University where I instruct Yoga in my home town of Doylestown, PA.
Since I was a young girl I have had the lifelong dream of building my own home. From the interior to the exterior, the furniture, the dishware, the utensils, all of it – with my own two hands. As I have come of age to embark on such a venture, I find myself disenchanted by the carbon footprint and personal energy output involved in building and maintaining a conventional home.
I don’t want to be tied down to one location. I don’t own land. I don’t want to be house poor and I didn’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars. So as an artist and an Earth advocate with no building or engineering experience how was I supposed to make my dream my reality? I just began, one foot in front of the other, one phone call after the next. I felt it in my bones that this was not only what I needed but it was what my community needed. And I was right! It all came together. My community rallied around me by donating time, material and energy. And I did it! I created a modern, sustainable home designed to work in synergy with the natural world. I created Minimus!
Today Minimus is used as an educational tool for raising consciousness aboutsustainability and empowering individuals to make their dreams their reality.
